Valero – SRU 30 Waste Heat Boiler Turnaround

The scope of work encompassed the removal of the old waste heat boiler and the installation of a new, larger waste heat boiler.

The project was to be executed during Valero's East & West Plant Turnaround and involved a massive 11’ diameter vessel ASME code weld measuring 415” in circumference to connect the new 365,000 lb waste heat boiler to the existing SRU reaction furnace. The SRU 30 waste heat boiler change-out was the critical path of the plant wide shut down and lasted 38 days.
