Chevron Refinery Light Tight Oil (LTO) Project; Pasadena, TX

Chevron is producing light tight oil (LTO) in the Permian Basin of West Texas. Our overall goal was to help enable Chevron to extract Texas oil, transport it via Texas pipelines, refine it in a Texas refinery, and distribute refined products to the Texas market. This initiative is set to create jobs in Texas for future generations.

The project was an astonishing feat of collaboration, innovation, creativity, and grit – converting an existing oil refinery for more efficient processing of regional crude oil.

Beyond enhancing capacity, the project diversifies the refinery's portfolio by introducing jet fuel, boosts gasoline and diesel production, decommissions specific units, enhances process safety, and reduces refinery emissions. Entrusted with this forward-looking vision, Performance approached their responsibility with the “We Build Better” mentality.

At the completion, the total project scope included:

  • 3,223 Cubic Yards of Concrete Pours
  • 921 Civil Foundations
  • 60 Pieces of Equipment Set
  • 5,948 Pieces of Structural Steel Erection
  • 67,856 Linear Foot of Pipe Installation
  • 7,036 Welds
  • 1,938 Tie-Ins
  • 1,478,300 SIF Free Work Hours
  • 12 First Aids
  • 0 Near Misses
  • 0.88% Weld Repair Rate

Throughout our work, we adhered to two fundamental principles: "Do it safely or not at all" and "There is always time to do it right." This mindset enabled us to transform obstacles into opportunities.
