The Greater Baton Rouge Industry Alliance, Inc. (GBRIA) held its 17th Annual Craft Workforce Development Awards Banquet at the Renaissance Baton Rouge in August. Performance Contractors was honored with two major awards of the evening.
This year, Art Favre, Chairman of the Board of Performance Contractors, was inducted into the GBRIA Craft Workforce Development Hall of Fame. This award has only been given to a few select individuals, who have demonstrated a lifetime of achievement that has impacted generations of students and improved Louisiana’s Craft Workforce Development educational efforts.
Art reflects on the importance of this mission, stating, “By empowering skilled workers, we create a foundation for innovation, safety, and excellence that benefits us all. Together, we can forge a path toward a resilient and thriving workforce that meets the challenges of tomorrow."
Performance also won the Excellence Award in Craft Workforce Development. This was our 9th excellence award since 2014. Receiving this award reinforces our belief that innovation in workforce development is needed in our industry and is what we plan on continuing to deliver.
These distinctions represent confirmation from industry peers that our approach to educating, growing, and retaining our workforce is firmly entrenched along the proper path. Our efforts to help employees refine skill-sets and advance their careers with us are proving successful, and make up the core of our ability to continue Performance’s longstanding tradition of unsurpassed quality.
At the 2024 event, leaders from industrial manufacturing facilities, industrial contracting companies, post-secondary institutions, and local school systems came together to celebrate the accomplishments across the craft workforce development ecosystem.
GBRIA’s Craft Workforce Development Awards was developed in 2007 through a joint effort of GBRIA’s Contractor Workforce Development Committee, Board of Directors and local contractors. The program has been designed to promote best practices to improve the skills and retention of craft personnel in the region and to recognize and reward contractors, member plants, schools, educators, and other individuals who contribute to recruitment, assessment, training, career path education and retention efforts.
